Abstract

In the era of digital revolution, the tourism sector is continually embracing new technologies to make user experiences better, draw new consumers, and stay competitive. Of these technologies, Virtual Reality (VR) has become a robust medium for immersive storytelling, allowing prospective travelers to visit destinations virtually prior to making travel plans. This research examines the function and impact of Virtual Reality in destination marketing, with specific case study of its application to encourage tourism in Kerala, India—a state known for its varied landscapes and cultural traditions. India’s most forward-thinking tourism board, Kerala Tourism, has adopted VR as a means of enhancing marketing through offering 360-degree videos, interactive virtual tours, and VR-based promotional campaigns. The goal of this research is to see how such VR experiences affect traveler perception, destination image, and ultimately travel behavior. In this qualitative work, where expert interviews are carried out, content analysis of digital campaigns has been done, and surveys of tourists interacting with Kerala’s VR promotions have been conducted, the paper presents a comprehensive assessment of VR’s influence in destination marketing.
