Abstract

The Internet of Things (IoT) has become a significant facilitator for sustainable development and has begun influencing society. This paper aims to investigate the relationship between IoT and sustainability while critically analyzing recent research. A survey of the literature on IoT technologies and their positive effects in various industries, including farming and sustainable urban development, makes up the research approach. The goal is to provide a thorough, comprehensive review of how IoT might contribute to sustainable development and address contemporary environmental challenges globally. In addition to highlighting the value of IoT technologies in environmental protection, the report stresses how important it is for all stakeholders to use these technologies now and in the future. The present paper’s primary contribution to the body of knowledge on environmental protection, sustainable development, and IoT technologies is its enrichment. One of the concepts that is thought to enable sustainable digital transformation and ecological preservation is the Internet of Things (IoT). IoT is becoming a potent enabler in several application areas, including supply chain management, smart cities, smart industry, environmental monitoring, water and energy management, and health. This study adds to the body of knowledge in academia and industry by highlighting a potential connection between sustainability and the Internet of Things. Researchers and marketers are interested in this topic.
