Abstract

Efficient propagation techniques are essential for optimizing grapevine cultivation, particularly in commercial production of Vitis vinifera. Traditional methods like seed propagation are being increasingly replaced by clonal propagation through grafting and cuttings, which ensure genetic uniformity and enhanced yield consistency. Recent studies reveal that clonal propagation using hardwood cuttings can yield success rates of 85-90%, significantly outperforming other methods in terms of root development and plant vigor. Moreover, the use of rootstocks that are resistant to diseases like phylloxera enhances grapevine longevity and productivity. Advances in micropropagation have further revolutionized commercial grape cultivation, enabling mass production of disease-free, high-quality plants. These methods also allow for the rapid multiplication of elite cultivars, ensuring genetic superiority. By employing efficient propagation techniques, vineyards can maximize productivity, minimize production costs, and ensure consistent fruit quality, meeting the growing demands of the global wine and table grape markets.
