Abstract
Myopia, a leading cause of visual impairment worldwide, is expected to affect approximately 50% of the global population by 2050, posing substantial risks to public health systems globally. This paper provides an overview of the latest advances in myopia control strategies, focusing on pharmacological, optical, and digital health interventions. A systematic review of the literature highlights key developments in low-dose atropine, orthokeratology, multifocal lenses, and AI- powered predictive models. Additionally, emerging therapies such as 7-methylxanthine, light-guided spectacles, and gene therapy are evaluated for their potential to curb the progression of myopia. The review emphasizes the importance of personalized treatment strategies, the integration of technological innovations, and public health interventions in tackling the rising prevalence of myopia globally. The paper highlights recent studies and emerging trends that suggest a promising future for myopia management, but also points out ongoing challenges that need to be addressed to ensure wider accessibility and long-term effectiveness of treatments.
