Abstract

A super senior demographic—people 75 years of age and older—is likely to face the gamut of challenges and opportunities that digitalization brings to the ambitious Digital India initiative. This paper analyzes the implications for the super seniors when rapid digitization unfolds in their direction, emphasizing the dual nature of technology, at once an enabler as well as a source of frustration. Such digital platforms may therefore make healthcare, social services, and much engagement more easily accessible, yet super seniors often suffer because of their lack of digital literacy, privacy concerns, and physical limitations, cutting them off from reaping the benefits.
