Abstract

Intersectionality is a guiding principle for organizing that calls attention to the fact that one should be reflexive when analyzing social characteristics, lest one form of marginalization displaces another, and personal experiences are recognized as distinct rather than as a homogeneous group. The critics of intersectionality have warned that it will splinter the fight against systemic oppression. We are promoting the possible gains of a sensitive use of intersectionality rather than total rejection as it should be used as a method of research. Personal experiences would therefore be very handy to analyze how intersectionality actually works in practical settings.
