Abstract

Male fertility is significantly influenced by sperm quality, and disturbances in this process can lead to infertility, which has detrimental effects on many couples. Allium sativum (garlic) can improve women’s fertility, hormonal balance, menstruation management and maintenance, inflammation prevention, and general wellness. It is a common remedy that may affect male fertility, according to research. According to some research, the antioxidants in garlic may improve testicular shape, testosterone levels, and spermatogenesis. Despite the strong evidence, certain studies indicate that garlic may affect testicular function, which calls for further clinical studies. In addition, the extensive pharmacological effects of garlic in both nutritional and medicinal benefits have been noted. According to previous studies, Allium sativum, a superfood, has been known to be beneficial for many therapeutic purposes and is often developed to cure various ailments. Using data from both historical traditional medicine and current scientific studies, this systematic review investigates the effects of Allium sativum on male fertility. Because of its antioxidant properties, garlic, as a medicinal plant, is also gaining support as an alternative treatment of infertility-a major problem affecting millions of people across the globe. Male infertility, most often tied to sperm quality and spermatogenesis, is a huge issue both financially and emotionally for couples. Countless options are laying for those, as natural alternatives to invasive treatments like hormone therapies and surgeries can be a hefty financial effort and very unpleasant. Apart from its culinary uses, garlic has been considered beneficial for its alleged health benefits including cholesterol-lowering, liver protection, anti-cancer, and anti-diabetic properties. Contemporary treatments of garlic hit a fresh controversy over their positive, negative, or neutral effects on female fertility. Given the interesting properties of garlic, there is a need to carry out further work to gain a knowledge of its effects on reproductive health.
