Abstract

An image is comprised of a multitude of pixels, alongside several fundamental parameters, including color and monochromatic attributes (often referred to as black-and-white properties). Image processing techniques are employed to manipulate and process these images. Consequently, image processing serves as a core function within the broader domain of signal processing. One pivotal aspect of image processing is the conversion of images to grayscale. This transformation is essential to mitigate the complexity and computational burden associated with the three-dimensional nature of RGB (color) data, which significantly complicates signal processing operations. Therefore, this study will delve into the advantages of grayscale imagery and explore its applications within the field of image processing.
