Abstract
Artificial intelligence (AI) presents both exciting opportunities and significant challenges for mental health. On one hand, AI-powered tools can revolutionize mental healthcare delivery by offering personalized interventions, improving access to care, and augmenting clinician decision-making. Chatbots and virtual therapists can provide accessible and affordable support, while AI algorithms can analyse vast datasets to identify risk factors and predict mental health crises. Furthermore, AI can personalize treatment plans, optimize medication dosages, and even provide companionship and social support. However, several challenges must be addressed. Concerns regarding data privacy, algorithmic bias, and the potential for job displacement of mental health professionals are paramount. Ensuring ethical AI development and deployment is crucial, including addressing issues like fairness, transparency, and accountability. Moreover, the integration of AI in mental healthcare requires careful consideration of human factors, including the need for human oversight, the potential for dehumanization, and the importance of maintaining the therapeutic relationship. The study is based on findings by reviewing research papers that offer a comprehensive overview and integration of existing literature in this field. This research paper explores the potential of AI in revolutionizing mental health care while critically examining the ethical, social, and clinical implications of its implementation. The key findings of this study are in support of the potentials and challenges that have been mentioned.
