Abstract
Artificial intelligence (AI) incorporates into the field of psychology marks a significant paradigm shift, offering new methodologies for diagnosis, therapy, and cognitive research. AI’s capabilities in analysing large datasets, recognizing patterns in human behaviour, and personalizing interventions open up novel opportunities for improving psychological services. However, the incorporation of AI into the psychological practices also raises ethical concerns, particularly regarding privacy, empathy, and the loss of human oversight. This paper explores the current role along with the future evolution of AI in psychology, highlighting the potential benefits in mental health care, research, and therapy, while discussing the ethical challenges that accompany these advancements. Through examining the intersection of AI with psychological theory and practice, this paper provides a balanced perspective on the evolving relationship between psychology and AI, emphasizing the need for a human-centred approach to technology integration.
