Abstract

Neural plasticity refers to the ability of the brain to reorganize and modify its neural connections in response to environmental stimuli, experience, learning, injury, and disease processes. The first thousand days of life represent a critical window of heightened neural plasticity, during which the brain exhibits extraordinary capacity for adaptation and learning. Developmentally age-appropriate learning experiences during this period can profoundly influence neurodevelopment.
