Abstract

In this study, we delve into the world of mushrooms and their significant impact on agriculture, medicine, and income generation. Mushrooms are more than just a tasty addition to our meals; they’re packed with nutrients, offering a low-calorie source of proteins, vitamins, and minerals. With global production soaring to 8 million metric tonnes annually, mushrooms are a crucial player in ensuring food security and boosting economic growth, especially in countries like India. However, challenges such as lack of technical know-how, marketing information, and quality spawn hinder their cultivation. Despite these hurdles, mushrooms hold immense promise for enhancing food security, creating livelihoods, and providing valuable medicinal properties. Our study underscores the need for further research and development to unlock the full potential of mushrooms for society’s benefit.
